No Comment and the Innocence Project
No Comment and the Innocence Project.
A conversation, between a Prof of Law and
A student of Law.
A short story about, “ No Comment and the Innocence Project ” was overheard at the Cafe Du Blog, between two law students discussing crime in Europe and America this cafe is similar to all the famous cafes of 1920,1930, etc where all the literary, artistic minds gathered to find inspiration the likes of Victor Hugo, George Plimpton, Henry Miller, Scott Fitzgerald, Voltaire the great satirical master, and many more around cafes of Montparnasse, Jardin du Luxembourg, and Saint-Germain-des-Pres in Paris France.
"No comment" is a gift and a curse for the innocent and also for the one who has been apprehended with a mountain of evidence against him or her. Use it carefully especially when your solicitor is not present. The police are under a lot of pressure to prove the charges against you or to let you free, within 24 hours. A suspect can be held in custody for up to 36 to 96 hours if you are suspected of a serious crime eg murder. You can also be remanded in the holding cell for 14 days if you are suspect in acts of terrorism under the terrorism act.
If you still think that you are innocent and unfortunately found guilty, due to the circumstantial evidence, corrupt prosecutors, or jury contamination. There is still hope for you and it is called " THE INNOCENCE PROJECT" according to this organization it works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create a fair, compassionate, and equitable system of justice for everyone. Our work is guided by science and grounded in antiracism.
Many condemned people who were in prison for many years have been freed, they proclaimed their innocence but nobody heard their cries, but now have been freed thanks to the Innocence Project. The question arises how does the state, the government recompense this individual for time lost in jail, away from his family, and to erase the stigma of a jailbird attached to his name.
The next question is, who should we put in jail the judges, the jury, or the prosecutor, who put an innocent man in jail?
How in the world do we compensate for the miscarriage of justice??.
God bless you
May all be well with you
