It's not what you know, it’s who you know RSVP denied.
This post is like a safety valve for the human mind, under pressure just to blow off steam, writing helps and let’s steam escape without any harm done or you may say an experimental drug when prescribed gives no interaction with other meds, no comments or any negative or positive reports from the patient or doctor who prescribed and goes to file 13 at the FDA.
Case in point many years ago, when I had given up on Headhunter, and hunter had given up on scalping me. I ventured in the job market jungle on my own with the help of the famous yellow book. It had all you wanted it was had multi functions book, as we all know. As I ventured from avenues to avenues, I got lucky and was able to pass thru the gauntlet of security in the rush hour and landed at the personnel office of a famous firm. There I stood in front of the gate keeper the infamous secretary, with a cigarette in a cig holder taking her first smoke of the morning, the first line of defense at every corporate office.
First question was not “Good Morning”. How can help you? It was “How the hell did you get up here.? “Well young man I cannot give you an application for employment, our policy is you have to be referred to this company no walk in allowed, or invited by a recruiter at job fair, therefor no applications for you. “
There was no Giant recruiter back then. So back I went to Wall Street, & started at the lowest rung of the financial industry with a lot of wear and tear my dogs were tired of climbing the ever so steep ladder. So onwards & upwards I went towards the unknown and then down to retirement which was very certain. Who knew? my company stock would sink from the dizzy heights of 110 to under 15 dollar who knew? Working now in my retirement with many men & women like me in retail with a shattered dream, feeling betrayed., but hopeful for the next generation. But at least I am not carrying my Harp thru the NYC subway system to my next gig as undercover nonunion non-card-carrying Independent Music Professional with hidden Tax benefits
